GOP To Small Business: Drop Dead

A lie repeated enough becomes the truth to many.  Such is the case with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and claims that it's just another "liberal mouthpiece."  (Seriously, are there any liberal newspapers left outside of the Capital Times... and that's not even a newspaper anymore, just an online shell of its former self.)  Still, this morning's full width Page One headline trumpeted the misery of small business owners with a lead paragraph worthy of gold stars from Faux News:

Desperate Times... Desperate Measures

So what do you do when you’re fighting an uphill battle to win a state senate seat and you’re name recognition outside 3 miles of your home is in the toilet?  If you’re two-time loser Terry Moulton running for the 23rd  SD, you buy commercial time for your business hobby business  (Which is it?  Terry's been running for office for 10 years now), Mouldy’s Archery and Tackle.

14 minutes, 38 seconds and counting

Good news for the angry, unemployed or just curious.  Rapidly approaching political footnote Samual Wurzelbacher Joe the Plumber will be in Eau Claire tomorrow at the former Menard's store (but still owned by John) at 3230 East Hamilton Ave as part of the "Spending Revolt" bus tour.

Cheese is getting expensive

"Big Political Cheese" got its name in honor of all those Cheeseheads who love a little politics with their lives in America's Dairyland.  But that political cheese is getting more and more expensive.  The latest report studying state Supreme Court elections across the country shows that spending on those races doubled in the past decade.

Honesty Trumps Ideology

In a fall campaign being driven by Republican clarion calls to repeal "job killing taxes and regulations" and return to shoveling money toward corporations,  its refreshing to find an ostensibly right leaning blog that will call a spade a spade.  I direct you to the latest post over at Playground Politics.  We've been fans of the Recess Supervisor for a few years and appreciate his candor in a miasma of partisan propaganda.  The last line says it all:

What do you mean "Off Year?"

The talking heads on the cable channels love to talk about this being an "off year" for elections, their way of describing the midterms when there's no big Presidential race for them to follow.  It's more difficult to follow the 37 elections for governor, the (coincidentally) 37 U.S. Senate seat races, 435 Congressional campaigns and all the state legislative races.

Heard on the campaign trail...

Here are some of our favorite political tidbits we've heard on our Summer Travels the last month:

Back from vacation

Hello fellow cheeseheads.  It's been awhile since our last post.  It's been a busy summer and a vacation was called for, although next time I'll be sure there is a better internet connection.  More posting to follow.
